I am currently taking it easy in beautiful Ohio. The past three weeks I have worked 50-60 hours per week. So this week after my mandatory 40 hours... I deciced to take the weekend off. This was a much needed break. I drove up toward Cleveland to visit a friend this weekend. Grabbed lunch then went and saw the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I have been pretty home sick for the past week so it was good to hang out with someone who I knew from VA. On the 26th of May we are gonna catch an Indians game... which should be exciting since I have never been to a baseball game before. Maybe the prospect of having some fun a month from now will keep me sane for yet another month...lol. The nomadic life style has very much worn thin... so I take what I can get in the sanity dept. I am looking forward to the end of this project... I know it is a couple of months away... but I certainly need something a tad more challenging and varied. Don't get me wrong I like my job... I just don't want to to do this forever. You can only look at so many powerline right of ways before they all start to look similar.
As for other plans in the upcoming events file... I want to get a plane ticket/train ticket/the desire to drive 10+ hours to go home during the next week or so. Also, I am planning on going to a friend's wedding in NJ at the end of June(on FRI.). This is the same weekend (on SAT.) I need to be in NOVA (by 10 am) for a dress fitting for another friend's wedding in which I am a bridesmaid. And another friend in the NOVA area will be having a B'day get together that nite. I do think I will truely be a traveling fool that weekend. Also during an upcoming weekend ... I plan to get to MD to visit a friend who I haven't seen since my next to my last year at Tech. In addition... I would like to get to B'burg again eventually.
So yeah... guess this is a pretty good update on what i have been up to. I won't bore you with the details from my job.... It is very much the same ol same ol - Streams, Rivers, Lakes, Wet side slopes, snow, swamps, briars, mud, cornfields, fences, and barbed wire..... see.... i AM refraining from the details, just use these visual cues to come up with your own story.

So today marks the beginning of the end of the week... with any luck I won't have to work on Friday! It has been a very long week moved hotels this monday. This one is much nicer and a tad closer to the work sites. It is still a crappy chain with bare minimal features... but hey it is a rent free bill free place to camp out in during this stay in OH.
i got pretty home sick today, i called my old boss and i am pretty certain i could have a job back home tomorrow if i wanted it... kinda sad to think i'm out here living when i could be there... however, here i'm getting alot more experience and the possiblity to move up in to a better job.... guess i'll just have to suck it up and be mature so i can get a real job.
I have decided though that rivers suck, fences suck, and multiflora rose sucks.... today has been quite the adventure involving all of those... i have seen some nice scenery but i've had to walk forever to get back on the powerline.
I got stuck in the eye with a branch while crawling my way under a fence... it made me cry even. still smarts pretty bad and i have blurry vision. reckon i will live.
gotta find something to do for the weekend.... still really hoping to get 3 days off rather than getting OT. I must find some new boots and maybe a boot dryer... walked thru a flooded area yesterday...and my poor waterlogged boots are still pretty damp.
well that is what i am bitching about today.... take care and maybe i will have better stuff to talk about next time.

Hey folks... long time no post... been a busy couple of weeks... got to go to banquet last weekend. Had an absolute blast! Got to see friends .... got to get my drink on... and got to be in VA for the weekend. was well worth the 12 hours of driving i had to do to get there and back... considering I only got 8 hours of total sleep over the 3 days. I was named little sister alum of the year which was a big honor as well as surprise. Nice to know people like me well enough to bestow such a title on me. So i've spent this past week working and recovering. I have been sick most of the week ... guess it was a mixture of sleep deprevation and malnutrition catching up to my in the elements lifestyle. Feeling a bit better now. Did work 60 hours this week.... despite the head cold/allergies/ sore thoart episode. yay! over time! So today i slept in and just took it easy... i move to a new location tomorrow... so i've also spent a good amount of time packing.
hmmm... some intresting tidbits from my outdoor adventures this week....
i've gotten hit by several electric fences.
I got attacked by a my little pony w/ rabies.
Became the leader of a herd of cows... found out cow tounges are rough like a cat.
encountered a pretty cow.... she almost made me want to be a vegetarian... very friendly too... big brown eyes... made me sad to think she will end up hamburger some day.
nasty sunburn on hands.... hands sunburn... who knew?
barbed wire is not good to stradle especially when you are trying to get over a fence and lose your footing.
anyhow.... that is all the amusing details i can come up with for now... more when i'm more creative... nite all.

greetings from the cold state of Ohio! Today started out kinda late. I was quite sore from my stream mishap yesterday... but once I got up and got moving I felt better. Decided to drive to work just in case my package had gotten there...which it hadn't. So on a whim I called 411 and got the phone number and addy of the local P.O. -- and they had my package! So now I have my computer and other care package type items. Yay! I would have had to wait until monday to get my package... but not now! So I have spent alot of time today on the computer. It has been snowing most of the day... so I have not ventured far. Did go out and get some taco bell. Now i'm just sitting around watching HBO. Not much on tv today that doesn't regard the Pope passing away. Anyhow... nothing too exciting. Just enjoying having the weekend off.
As of my last post life was kinda crazy. I have now been in OH for the past two weeks. Last week I put in 40 hours and this week 50. Lots of walking and lots of power line poles. Today I got stuck in mud up to my knees with water up to my butt. The work is easy but sometimes there is some nasty terrain. Over all so far so good.

Other than work not too much new. I am now single again. Turns out the bf was a cheating lowlife... oh well. Did not need that frustration anyhow. Other that all of that foolishness, my over all day/nite in b'burg was over all really fun.
Got to hang out w/ a friend who lives up this way last weekend, which was fun. I was very homesick and seeing a familar face was just what i needed.
as for this weekend i'm just gonna hang out at the hotel... maybe do some laundry... very boring... but sometimes quiet is just what I need.
weekend I go to b'burg for TD's banquet. I am sooooo looking forward to it. Will be good to see everyone and cut loose for a couple of nites. :)

The course of events today have been seriously screwed up. I ordered my computer today-- yay lady in oregon! I got a call from the bf confirming I would be in B'burg tonite. Cancelled my dentist appointment. Then I received THE call from the company i'm going to work for.... apparently I was supposed to have filled out paper work for employment and taken a drug test already... DOH! It is friday. I am supposed to start work on Monday. The trick was to get the paperwork overnited and find a lab open on saturdays. Ok well we have now arranged all of this. In the midst of trying to figure all of this out though... I call the bf and tell him i can't come this weekend -- thinking the paperwork/drug screen won't get done til atleast monday. WELL now i'm doing all the happy employment stuff tomorrow and heading to b'burg anyhow to then head to OH as scheduled. But can't get ahold of the bf on the phone.. guess i'll just surprise him :). So what was this morning a well planned and organized trip to b'burg on the way to OH ... has now turned into my own personal cram session.
But at least I get to spend one more nite here at home.... sleeping in my own bed. I think that will be what i miss most of all.

Ok so the week has been pretty action packed so far. Monday I left here early to pick up a few essentials at the L.L. Bean outlet. I got some luggage and a couple of rugged shirts for my new job. I visited a good friend who I hadn't seen in a while. We went to Friendly's for lunch... yum! Then spent the afternoon chatting and catching up. Then there was more packing last night. Today was less eventful. Got a few chores and errands done. Went to dinner w/ my mom and a family friend. Some packing today. Tomorrow provided the weather is not crappy I am going to visit friends who are getting married next weekend. I won't be able to attend the wedding due to my being all moved and stuff by next week... but hey at least I will get the opportunity to wish them well before they tie the knot. So I have spent most of tonight chatting with friends online and just playing around on the net. I have been trying to call the bf and sort out the details of the weekend. But I can't seem to catch him at home. Guess I'll catch up w/ him tomorrow. The current plan is to leave here some time on Fri/Sat. Get to B'burg and hang out. Then Sunday make my way west/north... something... :-P
Now that you have had a peek into my week ... i guess i shall depart. Never promised this blog would be exciting or otherwise entertaining. It is just somewhere for me to record my thoughts and activities in a manner conducive to sharing. So yeah if you find my ramblings to be mundane and boring... then welcome to my life!
