wtf? michigan baffles me.

ok so what is up with Michigan/Detroit area and drugs? I mean really.... something called DOC was on the news this morning... hallocenogen/anphetamine. then there is the rash of herioin/phenotol deaths. honestly have no idea if i spelled any of those drug names right... however that is so not the point at this time. what the fuck is with this state and recreational drug abuse?
i would have to say this is a worse locale than florida. hell, it was hotter HERE yesterday than in MIAMI!!! I honestly don't get the weather here. i swear last week it was 32 degrees in the a.m. for many days. now the low is 75!

ok i must go out to work in my no a/c truck that has now developed a clunk, the o/d off light now blinks at will, and the speedometer jumps up and down when on the interstate! but at least the outside is clean now! wish me luck!

and now for an update

Let's see if I can manage something more than just a few jumbled sentences for a change. My previous posts from the last week have been quite random and choppy. I think they may reflect on my overall feeling of despair and confusion.

So I have been in Michigan now for nearly a week. I have little to say about it. I would like to get to Detroit at some point. Other than that I am actually quite ready to leave.

Work is going ok. I have been assigned "satan truck" as I have so knighted it. This vehicle has 198000+ miles, the drivers door cannot be opened from the outside, it BEEPS randomly, loudly, and alot for no real reason, the wipers have a mind of their own, only parts of the dash light up at night, it has no working 4X4, and it is in just overall disrepair. Apparently since this is only a temp project I am to make due with this truck. I still don't think it is fair that i went thru hell and high water to get a brand new 4X4 titled and registered in VA and I lose my position with the company I am contracted to due to budget cuts beyond my control and I am punished by my company by being assigned a real POS! *whine* (please pass the chesse)

I spend my spare time here job hunting, watching the news, and sleeping. Not that I have much spare time, I am working 60 hour weeks.

*rolls eyes* how the hell do they justify the crap they report on the news? sorry, random opinion. honestly if all they have to report about is politicians getting in a fist fight, jimmy hoffa's body being looked for, or what the pistons are doing.. they really all need to consider career changes or suitable alternative programming to put in the news time slot.

yeah... they really are looking for jimmy hoffa's body in michigan. i get here and that is all there is on the news... go figure. maybe history will be made while i am here. then again... i have the feeling that this is all some sort of ploy for some ya-bo to take the heat off his own situation. we'll see.

so far... i have seen :
a pheasant
lots of red squirrels
many chipmunks
about a dozen deer... most today
some swans
numerous geese
a bunny
a couple of turkey
a unidentifiable dog like animal... maybe a coyote maybe a dog... still unsure.

well the news just had another award winning story... this one actually maybe relavent to me.
woman dies on a delta flight. apparently the flight was DIVERTED for FUEL SHORTAGE (sound familar?). no one noticed the lady had died til the flight FINALLY got to its destination!
ok, so is delta too cheap to fuel their planes or WHAT? come on people! really lets fuel up BEFORE we hit the air! Not really wanting to fly delta anytime soon. The fact that the dead lady was not found til the plane was unloaded does not even really bother me... it is the fuel shortage component that rattles me.

bed time for me. more later.

Laundry

I must find a laundry mat. I really think sometimes I am too adaptable. I travel. I find all of the things I need and live there for a while. But all in all, I always miss home. I cannot wait to get back to NOVA. Traveling does not make it easy for me to apply for jobs especially ones that require paper apps. Ok well I guess I will figure something out. I always do.

Michigan

Ok so I finally arrived in Michigan. I am staying near Detroit. I have not really ventured out of my room other than for work purposes. I did have lunch at a nifty drive-in old-timey type a&w. They even had the window trays and served rootbeer is great big mugs! So I came back to the room early today since I was not feeling well. I am supposed to be working 60 hour weeks for the next month or so here. Need to find a laundrymat and maybe somewhere to buy things. I did find a Kroger in my travels for groceries... ok... well enough for now.

so i didn't make it to Michigan as planned

Previously typed while on my last flight of the day! --

I am sitting on an airplane to Akron, Ohio… FINALLY. I am typing this now for fear that when I finally DO get to Michigan, I will be entirely too tired to tell my story. So, for those of you unaware, I have been relocated to Michigan for a month and a half for work. Not exactly my choice however it is another job and a continuing paycheck. Now back to my story… it all begins at 4 am this morning. Yesterday, I brought my dog and my car home to stay with my mom. So I headed out of Middlesex for Richmond before the sun even thought about rising this morning. We get to Richmond’s airport. Mom drops me off and I’m on my way. Flight is delayed by 10 minutes… no biggie. We board and are headed to Cincinnati, Ohio. Now here is where it all gets interesting… told you I had a story. We cannot land in Cincinnati … too foggy. So they keep us in a holding pattern for about an hour. Then the captain informs us that we are now being diverted to Evansville, Indiana. We need gas and cannot land in Ohio. Fun. So we land, gas up, and then wait. Still can’t go to Cincinnati, the fog has not lifted. Then no sooner then we get on the runway to taxi out… something is wrong with the generator on the plane. We go back to the terminal; they work on it for another hour or so and come to the conclusion that the plane is not going back up. So they kick us off of the plane and we are grouped together in the ticketing area of the airport. There are no flights out! Our only option is to get onto a charter bus to Cincinnati; a 3 hour plus bus trip! By now it is nearly noon. I was supposed to have landed in Akron by 9:33am. Hmmph! Well, a long and might I add bumpy bus trip then ensues. We travel thru Indiana and Kentucky, then into Ohio. Arrived in Cincinnati, and then waited in line. Fortunate for me there were still flights headed to Akron that were not fully booked. So at 4:45pm, I took off from Cincinnati headed to Akron. So here I sit.

Now for the conclusion, I am now in Kent, Ohio after a short car ride. I was way too tired to head out for Michigan tonight, so when given the option – I decided to stay here overnight and head out for Michigan in the a.m. So tomorrow, I should finally make it to my original destination!
Today reminded me that so little is actually simple… one change in plans can throw off even the best of planning. So maybe this is a lesson to me to just take one day at a time and roll with the punches. Now that I’m at the hotel and fed… I do believe I will be taking a shower and going to bed quite soon. More updates to follow!
